We are writing to let you know some of the difficulties we are currently facing as a result of funding cuts to the voluntary and community sector. We would like to ask for your help so that we can try to stop the cuts affecting you.

As you know we are a voluntary organisation, and that means that we don’t charge you for the services we offer.  We rely on funding from local and national government, as well as donations from members of the public to be able to offer these services to you.

Over the last year there has been a big drop in how much money we get from all of these areas, and this means that we will not be able to help you in the way that we have in the past.

We are doing everything we can to minimise the effect this will have, but we need your help.

What we would like you to do:

We would like you to contact your local councillor, or MP, and explain to them what difference the support we have given you has made to your life.  We would also like you to contact the local media to tell everyone else what it would mean to you if the service wasn’t available in the future.

We understand that you may not feel able to contact them directly, and if you want any help then we would be more than happy to help you tell your story, even if you don’t want your name mentioned.  If you want to get in touch directly you can contact Derby City Council – website: www.derby.gov.uk

How these cuts are going to affect real people, living real lives is the best way we have of explaining how important our services are, and the impact they have on people’s lives, so your help could make a difference.
